I'M BACK. I APOLOGIZE FOR MY ABSENCE

I have been otherwise occupied with family issues. I apologize for not writing a reason, but I want to get back into the fray. My inspiration has been the movement that is gaining some serious momentum as of late.

I remember writing a post months ago about the need for a new Hartford Convention. This convention was nothing more than a group of patriots who had had enough during the War of 1812 and in 1814-15 drew up a list of grievances and demanded redress from their government. They felt the Embargo Act of 1807 forbidding trade with
England and France, and other government policies unfairly impacted the commerce that New England depended upon.

One of the grievances hinted at secession. It didn't gain a lot of momentum, because the War of 1812 ended, but the convention was called because the New Englanders involved felt their government had left them and no longer listened.

One of the things I heard was that this would possibly cause a constitutional convention to be convened. To this I say, bring it on. The American people have awakened and I think that a constitutional convention would certainly result in a much needed amendment to restrict government spending. The will of the people is being made abundantly clear to the congress. The president doesn't really worry too much now, but the congress is constantly on the ballot and they feel the heat much more than the president. I think he feels immune, but his time will come.

This is the genius of the constitution. The House of Representatives has a two year term because the Founding Fathers wanted them to be accountable to the people. Secondly, it's no accident that spending bills must originate in the House of Representatives. The Founding Fathers recognized that spending money demanded accountability, oversight, and checks and balances.

I have a "Don't Tread On Me" flag hanging in my room. This represents the colonists warning to the British that to ignore their grievances would have grave consequences. The British didn't listen. Will our government listen now?

I took an oath to protect and defend the constitution against "all enemies, foreign and domestic" twice in my life, when I entered the military and when I became a cop. My understanding is that the oath was for life. I take that oath seriously.

L&O, I pray your family things weren't difficult and that things are good now.
it's so good to see you back!
thanks for your comment at my place..excellent.
I love that you're teaching your students the important things. You know I've teased you about how liberal teachers indoctrinate and the conservatives ones are far too decent to do that..GRRRR~!! Tho I admire the philosophy, I feel it's not fair to America! BUT, when I see what you're teaching your children, I see you're showing them things they don't see otherwise; they're learning about what made us great and what it will take to make us greater. Thank you for reassuring me that SOME children in this country are in such excellent hands...yours!
blessings, me

Z,
I am good. I try to teach them important things and hope they get it. I couldn't force myself to be and indoctrinating teacher. Many times I find myself wanting to jump into it with a student, but I stop myself. I think they will move in the right direction when it's all said and done. Thanks for your comment. It's good to hear from you.

Lot you are so right about that pledge. I was never released from it either, and I take it VERY seriously. I am anxiously awaiting the 2010 elections. I think a lot of congressmen are going to have a very rude awakening. They can not say we didn't warn them!

AA,
I can only hope that Americans have seen the light and will vote out these jokers and clean house. If you let some stay their seniority rights only proliferate the same crap.

Pat,
How does the MSM continue to get a pass on this crap. Oh, sorry they are going out of business almost daily. There must be a reason.

Glad you're back. I think that Congress is in for a rude shock in the next couple of elections because the silent majority is no longer silent. And I had a kid with a Che shirt on yesterday so we had a little chat about that murdering SOB. Can't wait for my Victims of Che poster to arrive in the mail.

I indoctrinate my students all the time in the art of critical thinking. ;)

Here's what we'll get if you're correct and a bunch of the liars are booted out LAOT. A different group of liars. That won't change because of our two party system.

I won't bore you with more details now other than it doesn't matter if you're a Democrat or Republican. You will be sorely disappointed is you really have faith that either side will be an agent of change.

Good to have you back in the game LAOT.

Glad to have you back but no need to apologize. We all know what it's like and you have to take care of yourself and yours first!!

I take my oath seriously then and now -- and YES, in BOTH terms of foreign and domestic.

All,
I don't know when we will get straightened out. My dad's death is huge to us. We have tried to get by it, but he's a big force in our family. We'll get there but it may take awhile. I'm sorry that I'm not as involved as I have been, but it's tough on all of us. My parents were married 56 years and my mom is dealing pretty well with her loss. I'm struggling and I'll keep going as I can. Thanks for all the comments. I'll be there when I can.
