OLD DAYS

There are some songs that just take you back. The words to this song are really a walk down memory lane for me. I listened to Chicago all through my high school years and in the military. They were one of those bands that just spoke to me and my friends. Tragedy aside, they were a group of the most talented musicians I've ever heard.

The band is together here in all their glory. No one is missing and they sound great. I have their albums (CDs) and play them constantly. Time seems to stand still when I listen.

Imagine any group wearing tuxes anymore? I LOVE their harmony....
A little secret is that I was in a rock band in my late teens/early twenties; I played keyboard and sang harmony and did three or four solos, too.
Once, we were at the home of one of the Fifth Dimension....suddenly, the Dimension who'd been on safari came in (it was a welcome home party) and our manager says to me "Sing Up UP and Away"....Of course, I gave him a withering look and dummied up.
Imagine someone singing this Chicago song for the lead singer of Chicago? I DON'T THINK SOOOO!!
By the way...(sorry to go on so long here)...My bench for the piano and organ was in a rock garden..all four legs resting on each's own little rock; QUITE a night. Playing piano, spinning over to organ when appropriate, and managing to keep the bend upright! OH, the good old days!

I am a bit out of my element with this video, as I was only 1 at the time, but I do remember Chicago!!

Okay -- and so, did you "slow dance" to "Colour My World" as I did whilst young?

By the time that song came out, I was already a veteran and had a wife and 2 kids. OH, my aching back!

Z,
I lived in Ohio all my life and we don't get a lot of brushes with celebs. As for the rock band, my singing is terrible at best. I always threaten my classes with my singing as punishment for various and sundry transgressions. It works. I love music, but unfortunately I can't carry a tune in a bucket. Sing on!!

Jennifer,
I with Z on this one. Chicago is the one of the best bands of all time. Along with the Beatles, The Band, Chicago changed rock forever. Just a little background for you. Youngsters, sheesh. Thanks for the visit.

BZ,
Are you kidding? What person of our generation didn't slow dance to "Color my World." I saw it described as a "prom-ready song." Absolutely. I think I might post about the consternation of asking a girl to dance when I was in HS.

AA,
Chicago is one of those bands that just make you like their music. I'm just a little younger than you, but as it says in the movie "Heartbreak Ridge" we certainly chewed some of the same turf. Thanks for visiting.

Z,
Who doesn't remember that great song. The memories are great of slow dances in the HS gym. I can smell it now.

Thanks for posting this. I still have my Chicago vinyls from the 1970s and would never think of giving them up. What a great sound they had back then.

Thank you for your understanding.
