Here is another Beatles song. As you can tell I love them. In 1980, John Lennon was murdered. What the hell? Politics aside, he didn't deserve that. I lost a little of my innocence that day. I was a cop, but I still believed that some things were wrong. This was wrong. I still have trouble dealing with these kinds of things. Part of me wants to believe that right will prevail. I hope it does.

Your post is so close to what I also felt about Lennon's death. It was an epiphany in my life when I realized that sometimes things happen with no rational reason. And I lost my childhood innocence that believed good always prevailed over evil.

Thanks for sharing. You have inspired me to also share some of my favorite on site.

Best,
nun

God no, he didn't deserve that. I was just out of high school when Lennon was killed, and I don't think I appreciated how significant a loss it was. Oh, sure, I was a big fan of the Beatles, especially when I was little, and my babysitter, in the late '60s used to play them on the radio when we cruised around with her.

Some of the earliest songs I can remember from my childhood are Paul McCartney's songs like Let it Be, which to this day is one of my favorite songs of all time.

I just separate all the peace politics out, and just enjoy the music because it's a part of who we we're growing up.

Hope you and your family are well, and Happy Mother's day to all of yours!

Music of our youth had and still has so much meaning. I play Oldies 60s and 70s radio in my classroom while my students are working on their assignments.

When a song comes on that has some meaning to me, I stop them and have them LISTEN to the words.

I have amazed that after a year in my class, students tell me they actually like the music and have become a fan of it. Some even say how their parents play the same music and they understand what it (the music) was trying to say.

I appreciate the posts of your favorite songs. They have brought back some memories that I have forgotten.

I will continue to posts clips/videos of my favorite songs on my blogs.

I have had some hardship recently in my family and the old songs are helping me deal with it.

Take care and thanks again.

Dr.D,
Thanks for the visit. I too, was taken aback by the impact of his death. It represented the death of our thought that even though the 60s were a mess, it could swallow up people who really did not deserve to be hurt by them. Again I say, the 60s irreparably damaged this country and we feel it to this day.

TT,
Thanks for the visit. I have enjoyed your clips. They have brought back many memories of my youth. I, too, play music when my students are working and they have come to enjoy the music. It's amazing isn't it? My son and daughter both play the music. They always felt that their music was inferior to ours. I hope your family is well.

Tap,
Thanks for the visit. I love the 50s music also. Most of it led to and inspired the musicians of the 60s. The Beatles numbered among their inspirations, Buddy Holly.
