THE MESSIAH-THE CHOSEN ONE
ALL HAIL, GERARD BAKER, THE TRUE ORACLE! I AM NOT WORTHY!
I have read this in a few places. Now here is the spoken version by the author. I think it is amazing that BO's acolytes believe this and probably don't get the satire. The best line, "At the mention of his name they quickly laid aside their intrigues and beat their uranium swords into civil nuclear energy ploughshares." That is classic. Enjoy! This is the best satire I've read in years.

AFTER ALL
When I say that I was lucky to find my wife I am saying what's true. She grew up in California and I grew up in Ohio. How did we meet? We were both in the military. Who would've thought that two people in 1974 would meet in Colorado. I have said that in my life that sometimes I have been fortunate and sometimes I have been lucky. When I met my wife I was both. Listen to this song and know how I feel about my wife. We have been through a lot of tough times and we have argued and we have loved. But when it was all said and done we stuck together for 34 years and counting. I'm a lucky guy.
ROMANCE
We loved this movie. I remember when the song came out my wife made the statement that it was a romantic song. I always envisioned myself to be her knight in shining armor. A lovely song and a lovely woman.
BARACK- THE BERLINER

I was reading Powerline and one part of the BO's speech set me off. To portray the Berlin Airlift as a purely humanitarian undertaking is to miss the point. The Berlin Airlift was all about an in your face to the Soviets. Stalin blockaded Berlin in order to force the west into taking some action that might provoke a war. Truman had the courage to say, if you want a confrontation here you go. He felt that he could not allow the Soviets to set the pace and still enforce the containment policy. If he allowed the milk to spill out of the bottle, he could never get it back in. The Berlin Airlift was all about proving that the US would not be intimidated by the Soviets. After 15 months the Soviets lifted the blockade and Berlin was allowed to survive. This type of action would never be undertaken by BO and the Dems. Truman and Kennedy Dems are dead and in today's Dem party are extinct.

BARACK UNPLUGGED
This is a very informative clip. It is BO at his truest and is stunning. It is a manifesto for disarming America and making us vulnerable in the world. This Wilsonian vision for a one world framework in which we are all joined together for the betterment of mankind has been discredited time and again. Several dictators didn't buy into his vision, but what the heck, maybe they would have had the US signed onto the Versailles Treaty and unilaterally disarmed. Sheesh, after all the US is nothing if it's not an imperialistic titan that has oppressed lesser nations throughout its history. Once the US is removed from the world stage as the only superpower, some other enlightened country will come to the fore and the world will be a better place. Iran, Russia, North Korea, and Venezuela all leap to mind. KUMBAYA! GIVE PEACE A CHANCE!
I'VE SEEN THIS CLIP ON SEVERAL OTHER SITES, (NOT ORIGINAL WITH ME)
I have watched with interest as the MSM puts forth Obama as the "Great Oracle" along with his undisputed role as the Messiah. It certainly must be difficult to perform in the face of this type of adoration. One would tend to believe the press clippings after a while as Obama is the featured act in one pep rally after another.
I say pep rally because just as at a pep rally, all the football/basketball team has to do is show up wearing their jerseys and the cheerleaders break into gyrations and the crowd expresses its wild adjulation in a full-throated cheer. The coach and captain express some meaningless jazz about the upcoming game and again the crowd goes wild and most walk away feeling the good guys will beat the hated rival and all is right with the world. Hurrah!
If you watch an Obama pep rally it is choreographed just as carefully and the speech he delivers is just as meaningless and the crowd is just as primed to express their adoration at the mere sight of their Messiah. And the good guy shall sally forth and smite the enemy and all is right with the world.
The above clip is one of many "non-pep rally" appearences that Obama has made and each of them is a study in watching someone try to answer a question they are not prepared to answer. In other words, Obama doesn't do his homework. He has been given a pass by his fans and the media to the extent that he now knows any answer will do. When delivering a prepared speech he is very good.
First and foremost, all good politicians are good actors. Obama is a pleaser. He is willing to say anything to anyone to ingratiate himself to them. He's one of those kids that you have in class that when their name is brought up everyone says "Oh yeah, what a nice kid." They may have not done more than other kids, but they are nice and polite and don't cause trouble. So you like them.
Obama unplugged is painful to watch. It is telling that McCain prefers the town hall format. He is a more converstional speaker and willing to mix it up with his audience. He doesn't fear a tough question. Sometimes his answers are not great and sometimes they're lame. But he doesn't fear not looking cool. Mostly McCain is spontaneous and witty. Obama fears not looking cool. McCain is much more capable of thinking on his feet than Obama. BO is all about cool. I never saw a guy look more uncomfortable out of uniform. He seems like he's struggling to look like he cares about the question, while at the same time wanting to go over with the cool kids and ditch this loser that is asking him questions he doesn't want to answer. In other words, it's tough for Obama to descend from the mount to talk to all of us lesser beings.
I love watching him struggle in these situations. Of course, it's kind of like pulling the wings off flies or burning ants with a magnifying glass.

THE ANDREW SISTERS
While in California we went to a concert by the 59th Army Band. In the concert was a lot of WWII music. My father-in-law loved it. We danced and enjoyed ourselves while the band played. The concert was played at a VA center. In the audience were a lot of WWII veterans and Korean War veterans. The band played music from that era and they were great. My nieces, who were 5 and 3 were enthralled by the music. Their parents were in the Guard and the band. The older people around us were in love with them. When the band played this song and three of the band members, including my sister-in-law sang this song the people went crazy. There were two older ladies in front of us and after the song, one turned to the other and said, "Hearing that song was worth the whole trip." My father-in-law was in agreement.
ST. LOUIS BLUES MARCH
I love this song above all the others. My Mom and I dance to this one. I am going to her house tomorrow and we will dance again to this song. She and I love it.
MY PARENTS MUSIC-REALLY COOL
Lately, we as a family have been trying to put the death of my dad in perspective. My mom and I have always loved music and we talked about the Glenn Miller Band that was huge in my parent's day. They were the Beatles. I'll put some music here and you can hear why my parents were in love with this music.
I play this music in my class and the students still love it. They love to dance to it and I dance with them. Great stuff.

MY DAD, US NAVY

This is my mom's favorite picture of my dad. He is in the Navy, 1947 to the Korean War. I don't doubt that she loves this picture. He has just graduated high school. He was quite the the athlete. Not according to him, but according to his siblings and his yearbook. He represented the flower of the youth of this country.
I remember that I talked to him about being the greatest generation and he was shocked that I would think that. He considered that he had done his duty, or as he told his children, he had done it because it was the right thing to do. If I remember anything from my dad, it was that a man does what he does because it was the right thing to do. After all, we are Americans. Simple, but profound.
The greatest generation wasn't just a catchphrase, they accepted their duty and they did it. My father-in-law was in the Army Air Corps in WWII. He proudly wears a hat that says so, but he is always taken aback when people thank him for his service when he is out in public. I have one of his hats hanging in my classroom. The kids ask why that hat is there and I tell them that my father-in -law was in the service during WWII. These men saw their duty, accepted it and then went on with their lives. They are a model to us all.
ANCHORS AWAY AND RIP, DAD.
THE AMERICAN SYMPHONY-MR HOLLAND'S OPUS
If we all have this type of influence on our students, it's all worth it. I love this movie because it reaches for what we all hope for.
We all hope to have this influence on our students. It sure is something to hope for, isn't it?
MR. HOLLAND'S OPUS
Now this is a song. It is from the movie "Mr. Holland's Opus." Can she sing or what! I love this movie and the music is fantastic. I'll follow this with another song. How can you not fall in love with this girl?
MY 55TH BIRTHDAY
For my birthday,my son gave me a card that read this way,
"Dad, no one could ask for a better "coach" than you. Through every season, you've been an example of how to play fair and give life your best shot. You've been someone to look up to, to lean on...and to love. Congratulations, Dad, on another year at the top of your game. My daughter said, "Me too, Dad." OK, now I feel appreciated. That's family.

CONTEMPLATION
I have struggled for the past three weeks. My family has too. I want to say I'm ready to roll, but that's not the truth. We have all been thrown for a loop. I recently went on vacation to see my wife's family. We have become intensely aware of the fragility of our lives. It was a good visit and I enjoyed seeing her parents, both in their 80s. God bless them.
Not a day passes that I don't think of my dad. At the strangest times I'll think of something he said and I'll miss him. I think, with time, I'll be able to cope better, but right now, its tough.
I've thought a lot lately about what we leave behind. I watched one of my favorite movies tonight "Mr. Holland's Opus." It's about a teacher who contemplates what his professional life has meant to his students. He is a music teacher and he is let go as a result of budget cuts. For all of us, especially teachers, we have contemplated what we have really accomplished during our professional lives. I hope we have all touched as many lives as Holland did in the movie.
This is where I am right now. I know it must get boring to hear me write about my dad, but he is such a profound influence on my life. I included this song because it is my daughter's favorite Beatles' song and it carries a message to her. She has MS. This song is big to her. "Nothing's going to change my life."
She's tougher than me. If nothing's going to change her life, nothing's going to change mine either.
I remember a conversation I had years ago with a friend of mine on the police department. He said, "I haven't suffered any major setbacks in my life yet and it scares the hell out of me." I thought of that statement a lot lately. Now I say to myself, you have suffered some setbacks, now how are you going to handle it.?
I think God and my dad are watching.
